Mechanically speaking, the DT has proved to be very reliable, considering its old age. It was first registered in June 1991!

When we first bought it all we did was an oil change, a spark plug change and basically nothing else. Like this, it ran a few trail rides, until one morning Andreas managed to lightly seize its piston. However, even with a seized piston, the DT was raced once again, and then it was trusted to the hands of Paul Kassimis, who performed a top-end overhaul. I did the running-in, for about 400km, and then we raced the DT in the latest Round the Yliki lake Trail Ride

The only mechanical change was a 50t rear sprocket, along with a 15T front sprocket which is the same size as the original one.

Oh, and the tires, both are Mitas soft compound, priced at 15 and 30 euros resp. Can you think of anything better?!

Right after the Yliki TR, we found traces of a small oil leak around the oilpump.

Otherwise, the logbook shows negligible oil and fuel consumption, enough power to spin its rear tire at will, and even pop the odd wheelie at large, a very stable temperature reading even at trail or thick traffic speeds and nothing else!

What more could one ask?!

Maybe better brakes? OK! We are working on this now. First we need a pair of new disk rotors, since both are in a well-used state. Then maybe a steel-braided brake line and even a new front brake-pump. We shall see!
