The legendary GTA of "Mayros"

John "Mayros" Meimaridis was one of the greatest racers of all times, in the Greek Motor Racing History. This picture, shows him racing at 1969 3-hour Tatoi race. The white Alfa GTA is a 1750 model, which had its engine replaced by a 2 litre, 210HP motor with direct injection.
The white GTA made its debut at the 3-Hour Tatoi endurance race, in 1969. Though "Mayros" finished 10th at that race, he managed to scare a bit the then leading drivers: Johnny Pesmajoglou with his Corvette Sting Ray, and the singer Stamatis Kokotas, who drove a BMW 2002 tii.

Unofortunately, "Mayros" died a year later at the Rhodes cirquit, when he hit head-on on the old city's castle wall, with his GTA.
