Santorini 2002, The Volcano

To get to the Volcano, (Nea Kameni island), you first have to make a prior booking, even in the same morning. Then you have three choices to get down to Fira port. The cable-car, on foot and riding the small donkeys. We took the cable-car. It's a two-minute fright, but to be honest, there's never been recorder an accident with this. There, at the port, you find the boat you're assigned to embark on.

The boat ride is about 20 min long and its always easy in the serene waters of the caldera. Once on the island, the walk to the craters is easy but also a bit long: About half an hour. Usually, there's also a guide to tell a few historic things, in various languages.
