Santorini 2002. Oia

Oia. A different approach than the usual ritual that wants everyone stay in Fira. Oia is a lot quieter at nights, and of course it's got that worldwide famous sunset. Just notice how MANY people are ready to snap to that sunset!

It was beautiful even from our room balcony, just over the cliffs at about 200m height... at "Lauda's" apartments (No relation to ex-Formula 1 driver. The greek word lauda means the steering of the small fishing boats!).

The pics with the word "baxedes" refer to a nice and sandy and quiet beach located about 2 km north of Oia. There's a small canteen with cold beers and beverages just nearby, and you can see the neighboring island of Sifnos from there. The lovely restaurant is called Paradise and I confirm its tastes are absolutely fabulous. (Within walking distance from Baxedes beach). No they don't offer ducks in the menu!

Of interest is also the coffee shop Melenio, which has astonising sweets and equally lovely view over the caldera.

The road, at page 2, is the newly paved way to Fira, keeping you away from the heights of the original (old) road to Fira.
