An alternative route through Albania

Instead of doing the hard way, or the harder we didn't do, there was a third alternative route, supposedly quite easier.
This one would lead us from Athens first to Florina in Northern Greece, through mostly fast motorway, which included the E75 to Thessaloniki and the new and under construction Egnatia (E90). Then a short drive to the FYROM border and to Bitola. From there the Albanian border is very close. The Albanian crossing would be through Ochrid, Elbasan, Tirane and close to Skodra.

We could have two possible nigth stops on this route: Florina or Bitola. The road in FYROM is quite easy going, according to the Greek motorcycle magazine MOTO who did it recently. They reported however that the road to Elbasan and Tirane is not really better than the one we did from Girokastr, north.

Anyway, I'm glad for what we did and I do not regret it at all!
