0-300 / Hellinmoto Enduro Lessons

Saturday April 13, 2002: 0-300 Magazin, with the help of the Greek KTM importers, Hellinmoto organized some very good enduro lessons. I was there of course. At first, the weather threatened to make a muddy terrain, however, as the day wore on the sun came out! So, we started with an in-class detailing of how to ride, with Dimitris "Doc" Athanassoulopoulos and Takis Maniatis teaching us how to even dress (very important indeed), and then how to sit and control the bike, aboard an EXC520. This lasted about two very interesting hours. Then we went outside the class, at the flat ground behind the classroom, where we practiced a few easy but also very technical small things, like riding with a locked front brake, riding with one hand on a slalom, doing turns keeping as much speed as possible into the turn and sliding the bike on the trottle, standing. After the detailing, we were separated into three small groups and went around the Parnitha trails for some more good practice! Upon coming back, snacks, sandwiches, coffee and refreshments were waiting for us, and then another two hours of very very interesting classroom, this time discussing what is an enduro race, and ways on not losing precious seconds!
