Finishing!!!

The frame came from China (Ebay), we bought the screws, we found they have a 5.5 mm hex-head, so out came the modelling tools: A small multitool which has a 5.5 and also a 5.5 flat tool...

Good weather is on our side!

So, once again we remove: Instrument cluster, the plastics left and right of the steering column (remember this is a LHD car), radio, climatic module, unplugging all of the above...

I tried to mount at least one of the new he-head screws... I couldn't do it! There is simply not enough space, enough to hold the screw AND tighten it at the same time. VW says: Remove the dashboard! I suspect this will be necessary if this servomotor fails in a MK6, because in THAT model it will be hel with three screws. I would not be able to reach the rear screws, so, yes, remove the darn dashboard!

To be honest, the idea of removing the whole dashboard passed through my eyes... I searched manuals and online fora to see how to remove it... It is an epic work to remove the whole darn thing just for two screws. Forget it!

So, I have secured the servomotor with just one screw, a tapered 4X20 screw and hope for the best!

It sits there held by just ONE screw!!!
Finally, after an hour's worth of reassembling, we are done!

haha!

I wish! Despite my trying to adjust it so when turning the right knob in a given position, to have air coming from the place showing on the knob, I couldn't make it...
I guess with more trial and error I would make it. Maybe by turning the potentiometer of the servomotor, simutaneously with moving the knob AND the cable that moved the flaps...

Too time consuming and I need the car!

So, when I put the right knob at "defrost" it sends air through the four front airways on the dashboard. Do you care? I certainly do not!!!!

And finally the real finishing! What it shows on the knob, it also does!
